During the last week Helly Hansen Ambassador Melges.dk Sailing Team competed along 95 competitors from eighteen nations in the Melges 24 World Championship in Middelfart, Denmark.

In an event with light wind and tricky conditions the team managed to end just outside the Corinthian podium with a 4th place finish – the best ever result for the team in a World Championship.

Overall the team ended in 19th position in a 95 boat fleet with some of the greatest sailors in the world; former Olympic sailors and America’s Cup competitors.

”It’s been a very challenging championship where both the shifty wind and strong current made the tactics difficult. We managed to keep a consistent performance without too many mistakes through most of the 12 races. We are very satisfied with the result however it would have been fantastic to climb a position for a podium finish.”

The team raced the event wearing the new spring/summer Helly Hansen HP QuickDry SUN shirts as well as the HP HT shorts which kept the team dry and cooled in the heat.

In 2014 the team won Corinthian bronze medals at the European Championship.
